Very sad to report that Ciaran Ryan  died suddenly on his way home from a bowling league match yesterday evening. A member of the Blackrock Bowling  and Tennis club for over sixty years, Ciaran made a major contribution on the tennis court, the bowling green and in administration. Twice president of the BLI (2006 & 2019) and an honorary member, he was also president of the IBA (2012).

 

He will be remembered for his wisdom and his wit and was a much loved  and widely respected member of the club, the association and the wider bowling community north and south. In particular we looked forward to and greatly enjoyed his after dinner speeches. The BLI  and bowls in general has benefitted greatly from his commitment and service over many years.

 

We extend our sympathies to his wife Deirdre and family.

Ciaran,  “I have a plan”,  you were great company, and a pleasure to have known and work with, may you rest in peace.
