Leinster Bowling Clubs Charity Bowling Event
Getting ready for your Summer Bowling Season why not join us in Leinster Bowling Club on Good Friday 29th March for our Annual Bowling Charity Day for Our Lady`s Hospice and Care Services in Harold`s Cross. I am sure that we are all familiar with the great work that the Hospice does to support a wide range of needs, from residential rehabilitation to end-of-life care. Over 693 medical and general staff and 330 volunteers provide world class person-centred care to help patients and residents achieve their best quality of life and support their family. Every day staff and volunteers uphold the core values of human dignity, compassion, justice, quality and advocacy. They rely on the on-going and generous support from the public to help them meet their healthcare needs, every year they need to fundraise over €5.5 million to support their work.
We will run 2 sessions of bowling first session starting at 10.30am and an afternoon session starting at 2.30pm. Entry fee will be €5.00 and we will also be selling raffle tickets to help us raise much needed funds for the Hospice. If you would like to take part in the bowling please contact any of the names at the bottom of this note indicating the time you would like to play. If you are unable to join us on the day and would like to contribute to this worth cause please let us know. Light refreshments will be provided after each session of bowling and the raffle will take place at the end of the final session. We will have to limit each session to 48 players so get in early to be sure of your game of bowls. Hope to see you in Leinster on the 29th of March

Inaugural Schools Cup
The Leinster Lions Management team has worked with the Sporting Coordinators from a number of local schools to run the first Lawn Bowls Schools Cup. Around 150 pupils between the ages of 13 to 15) from St Pauls (Greenhills); Templeogue College; St Pauls CBS (Smithfield) and Colaiste Mhuire (Cabra) will take part in the Cup in March – May 24.
The qualifying matches will take place in Greenhills and Herbert Park Bowling Clubs with the final taking place on 07 May 24 venue tbc.
This is a really exciting development in the sport of lawn bowls in Ireland and the hope is that some of the pupils may transition to the Leinster Lions Regional Academy and eventually representative levels for Ireland.
We will update as the competition progresses, best of luck to all the pupils involved.
If you think your School may be interested in participating in next years Cup, please contact Colum O’Brien on colum2000@gmail.com

Para Bowling
History was made when Ireland played England in the first Para Bowls Test. The Irish side consisting of bowlers from North and South lost by 3 matches to 2. For their inaugural international trial this was an excellent result. The future is bright for Irish Para Bowls.
