Sunshine, Drama, and Top-Class Bowls at the 2026 Clontarf Open Pairs Tournament.
The 2026 Open Pairs Tournament was an absolute triumph, bringing together 40 entries from 9 different clubs across the region.
We were delighted to welcome competitors from Blackrock,Clontarf, Crumlin, Dun Laoghaire, Ierne, St. James’s Gate, Leinster, Skerries, and Westmanstown Bowling Clubs. Glorious weather blessed the greens all week long. These ideal playing conditions raised thebar, resulting in an exceptionally high standard of bowls that kept spectators thoroughly entertained.
On & off the green, the atmosphere was a perfect blend of fun, friendship, and fierce competition. Our deepest thanks go to the incredible volunteers from CBC, who provided top-class administration which included organisation, registration, PR & photography to welcome one &all to our event.
The hospitality from the Club Pavilion was greatly appreciated by both playersand spectators alike. This year saw the successful introduction of ILB Live scorecards for the Final. The feedbackwas overwhelmingly positive, and plans are already underway to expand this live tracking to the Quarter and Semi-Finals next year!
The knockout stages delivered pure drama: Spectators were treated to two nail-biting semi-final matches as Dun Laoghaire battled Ierne, and Crumlin faced off against Crumlin.
The Final: A masterclass in bowling, featuring Alan Mooney and Richard Leonard (Crumlin BC) against John Hackett and Peter Loughlin (Ierne BC).
Congratulations to our 2026 Champions! After a thrilling, hard-fought match, John Hackett and Peter Loughlin of Ierne BC emerged as the 2026 Clontarf Open Pairs Champions.
Club Captain Joan Doyle presented the prestigious trophy to the winners right on our beautiful maintained green. Afterwards, all our brilliant finalists moved into the clubhouse to receive their prizes and enjoy a well-deserved celebratory dinner.
