League Fixtures

by Mike Brophy | Apr 3, 2024

The Monday Night schedule has been revised to cater for 11 teams in both Division 4 & 5 and the website updated.  Still outstanding are the Veterans Division and it is hoped to put these on the website shortly.

In line 2 of each fixture list, I have the following “updated DD MMM YYYY HH.MM pm.”   Once all league fixtures are reviewed for the final time, I will amend this comment to finalised and there will be no further changes after that.

Fixtures are not definitive until the word Finalised is included at the top of each fixture list.

The unfurling of the new ILB flag took place yesterday in Leinster Bowling Club the home of the first ILB Lady President  Anne O’Herlihy.  Among Anne’s many guests were the IBA President Henry McFarland and the IWBA President Jacqui Byrne.

The day started with the unfurling followed by a “friendly” match between President Anne’s team and a team from Leinster Bowling Club.  As is customary the match finished in an honourable draw.  This was followed by a meal in the club house and concluded when Leinster Captain Mary Kelly presented Anne with a bouquet if flowers.

There follows a number of photos of the day.  My thanks to Ken Barker of Blackrock B.C. who took some of the below.

Leinster Bowling Clubs Charity Bowling Event

by Mike Brophy | Mar 15, 2024 |

Getting ready for your Summer Bowling Season why not join us in Leinster Bowling Club on Good Friday 29th March for our Annual Bowling Charity Day for Our Lady`s Hospice and Care Services in Harold`s Cross. I am sure that we are all familiar with the great work that the Hospice does to support a wide range of needs, from residential rehabilitation to end-of-life care. Over 693 medical and general staff and 330 volunteers provide world class person-centred care to help patients and residents achieve their best quality of life and support their family. Every day staff and volunteers uphold the core values of human dignity, compassion, justice, quality and advocacy. They rely on the on-going and generous support from the public to help them meet their healthcare needs, every year they need to fundraise over €5.5 million to support their work.

We will run 2 sessions of bowling first session starting at 10.30am and an afternoon session starting at 2.30pm. Entry fee will be €5.00 and we will also be selling raffle tickets to help us raise much needed funds for the Hospice. If you would like to take part in the bowling please contact any of the names at the bottom of this note indicating the time you would like to play. If you are unable to join us on the day and would like to contribute to this worth cause please let us know. Light refreshments will be provided after each session of bowling and the raffle will take place at the end of the final session. Development League,

by Mike Brophy | Feb 10, 2024 |

Following considerable feedback on the success of last years Development League, the ILB DEVCO decided to run another one ahead of the upcoming 2024 summer season.

The League, which is aimed at new and nearly new players, will be held across 3 greens, Herbert Park, Leinster and North Kildare.  Whilst the overarching aim is to get people out enjoying the sport, the structure helps to integrate players into semi-competitive league structures.  Based on last years feedback, participating Clubs really benefited from this.

Section 1 is made up of Crumlin, Greystones, Herbert Park and North Kildare.  Section 2 features Blackrock, Clontarf, Leinster and Ierne.  The first round of fixtures takes place on 25 Feb with the play-offs on 24 March.

Best of luck to everyone and enjoy the experience.
